MDC Board of Directors
The corporation is managed by a 13-member Board of Directors comprised of area business and community leaders. The Mayor of Madison appoints eight of the Directors, the Chair of the Dane County Board of Supervisors appoints one County Supervisor that represents Madison, and four members are elected by MDC membership. Any Dane County resident, business, or person employed in the county is eligible to be a member of MDC’s Board of Directors.

Lorrie Heinemann - President & CEO
Lorrie Heinemann is President & CEO of Madison Development Corporation, responsible for the growth and development of the organization and its employees. Supported by MDC’s Board and Advisory Committees, Lorrie sets and maintains the course for the operations of the organization, in addition to coordinating media and municipal relations.
Dave Scholtens – VP of Lending
Dave Scholtens is VP of Lending for Madison Development Corporation, charged with the management of MDC’s Business Lending arm, which consists of its Business Loan, Venture Debt, and Co-op Programs. In this role, Dave works with Dane County entrepreneurs and business leaders to help increase the number of jobs through the provision of loans that for some may be unattainable by current banking standards.
Abbie Wallhaus – VP of Finance & CFO
Abbie Wallhaus is VP of Finance & CFO for Madison Development Corporation. As a key member of MDC’s Executive Management Team, Wallhaus will oversee all accounting and finance functions for MDC and its affiliates; ensuring MDC’s accounting and financial operations are handled with efficiency and integrity.
Harry Irwin – Facilities Manager
Harry Irwin is Facilities Manager for Madison Development Corporation. In this role, Harry coordinates all maintenance operations for the organization, including the management of MDC’s trusted technicians and vendors. Day-to-day duties include vendor and tenant management, hands-on repair work, and construction management responsibilities.
Sara Gussine – Leasing & Compliance Manager
Sara Gussine is Leasing & Compliance Manager for Madison Development Corporation, charged with the management of MDC’s leasing functions. In conjunction, Sara ensures MDC and its employees adhere to strict compliance regulations, designed to protect both the company’s employees and the individuals which they serve.
Cashton Laufenberg – Director of Property Management
Cashton Laufenberg is Director of Property Management for Madison Development Corporation. In this role, Cashton oversees all of MDC’s rental properties, as well as the MDC employees and partners who help keep the units operating at full capacity. His responsibilities include conducting property tours and showings, tenant issue management, identifying deficiencies at properties, and coordinating maintenance-related solutions to these issues; all accomplished within MDC budgeting guidelines.
Robin Kempfer – Grounds/Maintenance Supervisor
Robin Kempfer is Grounds/Jr. Maintenance Supervisor for Madison Development Corporation, responsible for maintenance and vendor management relating to MDC’s housing portfolio. Duties range from hands-on work to assigning and managing third party vendors at each property, and requires a vast knowledge of tenant issues and their respective solutions.
Mik Clayton – Maintenance Technician
Mik Clayton is a Maintenance Technician for Madison Development Corporation, responsible for hands-on maintenance and related tenant and vendor management functionality. Duties range from assisting in ice/snow removal to intricate repair work performed inside respective tenants’ apartment units.
Jose Abreu – Maintenance Technician
Jose Abreu is a Maintenance Technician for Madison Development Corporation, responsible for hands-on maintenance and related tenant and vendor management functionality. Duties range from assisting in ice/snow removal to intricate repair work performed inside respective tenants’ apartment units.
Scott Ndobegang – Property Manager
Scott Ndobegang is a Property Manager for Madison Development Corporation. Scott’s responsibilities include conducting property tours and showings, tenant issue management, identifying deficiencies at properties, and coordinating solutions for a designated set of MDC’s housing portfolio.
Kyle Kopplin – Director of Communications
Kyle Kopplin is Director of Communications for Madison Development Corporation, charged with creating and managing MDC’s print and digital communications. His responsibilities include providing support for the organization’s Finance, Leasing, IT, Maintenance, and Property Management teams, in addition to managing office supplies and events.
